Tokyo reported 11 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Dec. 2, down 16 from the same day a week ago. The seven-day average of new infections in Tokyo through Dec. 2 stood at 15, or 98 percent of the figure for the preceding week.

The number of severely ill patients in the capital as defined by the Tokyo metropolitan government, meaning they are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung bypass machines, stood at four, unchanged from the day before.
