As its name suggests, Immersive Fort Tokyo, a theme park that opened in the Odaiba waterfront district on March 1, offers a fully immersive experience--with a sense of Victorian England thrown in for good measure.

The attractions are inspired by movies and other fictional works.

One of the more popular ones, “The Sherlock: Baker Street Murder Case,” features a live performance with a character in the period garb of the famed pipe-smoking detective in the novel series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Visitors can enter various rooms, one of which is where a “murder” takes place. They can also visit Holmes’ private lodging at fictional 221B Baker Street in London and “shadow” the famed sleuth as he tries to solve the case.

The story changes depending on the characters the visitors follow.

Other attractions include an escape game in which participants must work together to complete missions, and a horror maze featuring Jack the Ripper.

The theme park is located on the former site of the Venus Fort commercial facility that closed in 2022.

Immersive Fort Tokyo is managed by Katana Inc., a marketing firm headed by Tsuyoshi Morioka, who helped reinvigorate Universal Studios Japan in Osaka.

A one-day pass is 6,800 yen ($45) for those aged 12 and older, 3,000 yen for children aged between 4 and 11 and free for those aged 3 or younger.
