Photo/Illutration Products marketed by Pasco Shikishima Corp. under its Chojuku brand (Kaname Ohira)

Bread manufacturer Pasco Shikishima Corp. is recalling thousands of products after what appeared to be dead rat or mouse parts were reported by customers in some of its bread loaves.

The affected products were manufactured in a factory in Akishima, western Tokyo, and marketed in 15 prefectures including Tokyo, Niigata, Shizuoka and prefectures in the Tohoku region, according to the company.

A total of 104,000 five- or six-slice “Chojuku Yamagata” loaves with expiration dates between May 7 and May 11 have been recalled.

The recalled products have a three-digit management code starting with “A” after the manufacturing plant code “+P1” printed on the package.

On May 5, the company received an email from a customer reporting a foreign object in a recently purchased bread loaf. The company received a similar report from another customer in the same region on May 7.

No health issues have been reported so far.

The company is offering refunds for the affected products through a dedicated form on its website at: https://uketsuke-form.jp/modules/uketsuke_urganjq/
