OSAKA--Donkey Kong’s new attraction is finally coming to Universal Studios Japan here.
USJ announced it will open a “Donkey Kong Country” area themed on the world of Donkey Kong on Dec. 11.
It was originally scheduled to open in spring this year.
But the park operator said in April it would delay the opening to further improve the level of completion.
The main attraction in the new area will be the “Mine Cart Madness” roller coaster. Visitors can hop in a mine cart and run along a track through a jungle--just like in the iconic video game franchise.
Each cart can carry up to four passengers.
The two-minute ride will start at The Golden Temple, the symbol of the area.
Donkey Kong Country will be set up in an expanded area of the park’s Super Nintendo World, which opened in March 2021 to feature Nintendo characters and offer the Mario Kart attraction.
