OSAKA--Universal Studios Japan has opened a permanent attraction themed on the popular “Detective Conan” anime series.
The park has collaborated with many manga and anime titles to host special events for limited periods, but this new venture marks the first time for a permanent attraction based on manga or anime to be set up.
Renovated from a theater attraction in the New York Area, “Detective Conan 4-D Live Show: Jewel Under the Starry Sky” opened March 22 in the southeast area of the park.
The venue is equipped with a giant screen measuring about 45 meters wide upon which a 3-D movie is projected to tell a 30-minute original story revolving around the titular boy detective and Toru Amuro as they try to solve a mystery.
Water splashes and other special effects are added while cast members dressed as Kaito Kid and other characters also appear on the audience floor to take spectators into an immersive world of “Detective Conan.”
