OSAKA--Huge crowds gathered for one of the most spectacular summer events of the Kansai region, the Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival, that was held here Aug. 27 after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was the 34th time the event has been held over a dry riverbed along the Yodogawa River. It was organized by local volunteers and financed by donations from companies and residents.
Tickets for viewing seats were sold out by Aug. 26.
Spectators were urged to take precautions against infection from the novel coronavirus by wearing face masks and disinfecting their hands.
