The Chinese Embassy in Tokyo has begun allowing Japanese students to apply for visas to enter China for the first time in about two years and five months.
The embassy announced on its website on Aug. 23 that it started accepting visa applications from foreign nationals planning to study in China long term and families of foreign students in China.
The Chinese government banned entry to foreign nationals who have valid visas or a valid residency status in China in March 2020 following the global spread of the novel coronavirus.
Foreign students had since been unable to apply for visas to enter the country, forcing some to take classes online for about two years.
