The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 11,813 new cases of COVID-19 in the capital on March 1, marking the second consecutive day that the count increased from the same day a week ago.
The number of cases in the capital totaled 370 more than the previous Tuesday.
The daily average of new cases in Tokyo through the week ending March 1 was 11,312.7, which was 80.8 percent of the average of the previous week, when the figure was 14,003.3.
Metropolitan health officials also reported 32 deaths from COVID-19 among patients in their 30s or older.
