Tokyo confirmed 471 new COVID-19 cases on June 1, down 71 from a week ago, and seven new deaths from the virus, according to metropolitan government officials.
The latest tally brought the daily average for the week in the capital through June 1 to 537.0 cases, or 87.9 percent of the figure for the preceding week.
The daily average of administrative testing for the three days through May 31 stood at 5,335 cases.
Of the 471 cases, 115 patients were in their 20s and 103 in their 30s. Eighty-eight were in their 40s and 46 in their 50s. There were 45 patients aged 65 or older.
The number of serious cases in the capital requiring ventilators or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also known as an ECMO lung bypass machine, fell by five from the previous day to 70, the officials said.
