OSAKA--Osaka Prefecture confirmed 747 new novel coronavirus infections and 28 new deaths from COVID-19 on May 6, public health officials said.
The grim tally marked the third consecutive day that Osaka has recorded 20 new deaths or more.
The latest period overlapped with the Golden Week holidays, when fewer people were tested for the novel coronavirus.
The latest figures raised the prefecture’s accumulated infections to 86,716 and the death toll to 1,605.
