Japan's capital confirmed 131 new COVID-19 cases on July 27, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike told reporters.
The daily tally was below 200 for the first time since July 20, when 168 new cases were confirmed.
The capital has been dealing with a surge of infections, with the number of in-hospital patients hitting 1,000 on July 24 for the first time since May 17.
As of July 26, 1,165 people in Tokyo were hospitalized with the virus. The number was up four times from July 1, when 280 patients were hospitalized.
