Tokyo reported 239 new coronavirus cases on July 26, the sixth consecutive day of topping 200 cases, further straining the capital's medical services, according to metropolitan health officials.
It also marked the 18th day in a row of newly confirmed COVID-19 infections surpassing the 100 mark.
Tokyo's health care system has been stretched as the number of hospitalized patients due to the new coronavirus increased to 1,105 as of July 25, nearly four times the number reported on July 1.
