Four typhoons were active simultaneously in the Pacific Ocean, the first time that has occurred in November since observations began in 1951, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

In the early hours of Nov. 12, Typhoon No. 25 formed in the sea east of the Philippines. It was moving west-northwest at a speed of 40 kph as of noon that day.

It may approach Okinawa Prefecture on or after Nov. 16, the JMA said.

Typhoon No. 22, No. 23 and No. 24 had formed south of Japan and were moving westward.

However, the four typhoons may affect each other, making their trajectories difficult to predict.

The JMA is calling for people to “pay attention to the latest conditions, especially in Okinawa and Kagoshima prefectures, which have recently been hit by heavy rain.”
