An “execution room” at the Tokyo Detention House in Katsushika Ward in the capital is shown to the media in August 2010. Officials put a rope through metal rings fixed on the wall and the floor shown on the right-hand side of the photo. They then attach the rope to the pulley fixed on the ceiling to hang an inmate.
