Shojiro Kawasaki, 81, a resident of Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture, and his wife, Tomiko, 82, pray in front of a memorial monument in the town of Yamada in the same prefecture, on March 11. At the time of the disaster, their daughter Masako was working at a nursing home in Yamada. She was engulfed by the tsunami and swept away and remains missing.
