LAS VEGAS—Sony Honda Mobility Inc., a joint venture between Sony Group Corp. and Honda Motor Co., unveiled a prototype of its new Afeela electric vehicle model on Jan. 5.
The model, an SUV, is the second in the lineup, following the Afeela 1 sedan. The SUV is scheduled for release in the U.S. market in 2028 at the earliest.
The price has not been disclosed.
The announcement was made in Las Vegas ahead of the CES technology trade show, which begins on Jan. 6.
Deliveries for the Afeela 1 are set to begin in California in 2026.
However, Sony Honda Mobility revealed that deliveries in Japan, originally planned for 2026, will be delayed until the first half of 2027.
Occupants inside the Afeela 1 can watch movies and play games featuring high-quality video and audio.
Additionally, an AI-powered personal agent allows users to control onboard functions with voice commands.
