Sharp Corp. said customer personal information had been compromised because of unauthorized access to two of its online services, potentially affecting more than 100,000 customers.

The company said July 29 that while it has not detected any illegal use of personal information it could not discount the possibility that credit card details leaked.

It confirmed that the personal details of 203 individuals, including their names, addresses and phone numbers, were no longer secure.

The people concerned had placed orders at the companys official online Cocoro Store or its food delivery service website named Healsio Deli from June 23 to 30.

In addition, information on the Cocoro Store was corrupted to introduce visitors to a malicious website.

The company said it could not deny the possibility that around 26,000 users who logged onto the official online store or placed orders from July 19 to 22 were forced to install a computer virus on their personal computers.

As a result, their newly added credit card information on the website would have been compromised.

In addition, 75,000 individuals may have also been affected after inadvertently installing the virus when they visited the official online store during the same period.

The company partly suspended both websites on the morning of July 22 and started contacting users on July 29. It urged them to scan for computer viruses and change passwords.
