Heatstroke warnings have been issued for 21 prefectures on July 5 as the nation will once again bake under widely sunny skies from the Kanto region to Kyushu.
The mercury at a number of locations will likely hit 35 degrees or higher. The public is advised to take extra precautions against the scorching heat.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting the highest temperatures to reach a blistering 37 degrees in Nagoya, 36 degrees in Tokyo, and 35 degrees in Osaka and Fukuoka.
As of 10:20 a.m., five locations, including Toyooka in Hyogo Prefecture, Hamamatsu in Shizuoka Prefecture and Komatsu in Ishikawa Prefecture, have already recorded temperatures exceeding 35 degrees.
