NAGAKUTE, Aichi Prefecture–Ghibli Park here is set to open its final area on March 16, featuring attractions inspired by beloved films that include magic and witchcraft.
The new area, called “Valley of Witches,” showcases buildings inspired by the iconic Studio Ghibli Inc. films “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Earwig and the Witch.”
Media previews on Feb. 28 revealed a smoke-spewing replica of Howl’s castle and the bakery where Kiki lived and worked in the films.
Visitors can even purchase bread at the bakery.
Valley of Witches is the fifth and final area of Ghibli Park, which opened in November 2022 within the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park.
Other areas include “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse,” featuring sets and props from iconic scenes across the animation powerhouse’s filmography.
Buildings inspired by “Whisper of the Heart,” “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Princess Mononoke” have also proven popular among fans of the films.
