CHIBA–A wild boar was captured at a port here after injuring three people and ramming a taxi as it dashed across city streets on Oct. 25.

Police received more than 10 reports of boar sightings between 12:10 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. near Keisei Chiba Chuo Station and the west exit of JR Chiba Station.

The fully grown boar, around 1.5 meters long, injured the legs of a man and two police officers. The animal crashed into the taxi as it fled its pursuers.

Police and hunters captured the boar around 9 a.m. when it returned to land after jumping into the sea at a dock in Chiba Port.

Authorities patrolled the area in the morning to ensure the safety of children going to school.
