NARITA, Chiba Prefecture--Japan Food Hall, a 10-restaurant floor area at Narita Airport’s Terminal 2, offers departing passengers a final chance to gorge on Japanese food before boarding.

Located on the second floor after passengers have completed departure procedures, the building boasts a Japanese-style wood interior, according to Narita International Airport Corp.

The dining area is fitted with around 420 seats, allowing customers to eat and drink while watching aircraft parked along the apron.

Of those seats, 45 or so are set up outside, making Narita the first airport in Japan to feature outdoor terrace seating in the departure area.

Among the 10 eateries operating there are Ginza Kagari, which is famed for its chicken-broth ramen, eel restaurant Yondaime Kikukawa, Tempura Nihonbashi Tamai and Kyoto Katsugyu, which specializes in fried beef cutlet dishes.

“Our aim is to provide delicious Japanese meals, which are highly sought after by foreign visitors leaving Japan and Japanese passengers bound for overseas destinations,” said a representative of the airport operator during a ceremony held Aug. 31 ahead of the Sept. 1 opening of the dining area.
