East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) announced it will suspend some services on its network from the morning of Sept. 8 due to heavy rain brought by approaching Typhoon No. 13.
It said train runs on the Tokaido Line between Odawara and Atami stations will be halted from the first train until around noon, along with all runs on the Ito and Kururi lines during the same period.
JR East added that services between Ome and Okutama stations on the Ome Line, as well as runs between Komagawa and Yorii stations on the Hachiko Line, will be suspended from the first train until around 4 p.m.
Among limited express trains, the Saphir Odoriko and Odoriko, which run on the Tokaido Line, and the Azusa, Kaiji and Fuji Excursion, which service the Chuo Line, will stop running, mainly in the morning.
As of 5 p.m. on Sept. 7, there were no planned suspensions for the Tokaido Shinkansen line.
However, Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) warned of potential delays and suspensions of operations, mainly on the morning of Sept. 8. If that occurs, it could affect all services on the line between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations.
