TAKI, Mie Prefecture--It almost sounds too good to be true: Gourmet Japanese, Chinese and Western dishes supervised by 18 celebrity chefs, including some from Michelin-star restaurants, at throwaway prices.
The newly opened “At Chef Museum” is located in the Wa-VISON area of VISON, a giant commercial complex here that is themed on food and health.
Visitors can sample original one-of-a-kind dishes prepared with seafood from Ise Bay or Matsusaka beef, for example, as well as other agricultural products from Mie Prefecture such as chicken, pork, rice and fruit, at restaurants inside the facility.
At one of the shops, a famous sommelier serves wine and alcohol-free drinks.
“We are celebrating specialty dishes that are unique to the area all under one roof. I wanted a place where chefs can strive to perfect their art together,” said Masahiro Kasahara, who operates the Japanese restaurant Sanpi-Ryoron in Tokyo and Nagoya, during the opening event held in July.
Dishes are cooked by specialized staff trained by the chefs.
Each dish and drink is priced at 700 yen ($4.75), including tax.
A joint ticket package for three items is available for 2,000 yen at the entrance to the facility, which is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
