Crown Princess Kiko has the novel coronavirus and will recuperate at her residence until July 29, the Imperial Household Agency announced.
Her family members--Crown Prince Fumihito, Princess Kako and Prince Hisahito--all tested negative, the agency said on July 25.
Kiko, 56, took a COVID-19 test after developing a fever in the late afternoon of July 24 and her infection was confirmed that night.
On the morning of July 24, Kiko, together with Fumihito, Kako and Hisahito, met with about 35 people, mainly Japanese language school students, at the Akasaka East Palace in Tokyo.
The participants have been informed of Kiko’s infection with the novel coronavirus, the Imperial Household Agency said.
