Airport usage fees for international flight passengers at Narita International Airport will increase more than 13 percent in September, the facility operator announced on May 25.

The charge for passengers departing from Terminal 1 and 2 will be raised by 350 yen ($2.50) to 3,010 yen. For children aged 2 to 11, the fee will be 1,790 yen, up 190 yen.

Terminal 3, mainly used by budget airlines, will also see a price hike of 350 yen to 1,920 yen for adults.

For transiting passengers, the fee will increase 190 yen for adults and 110 yen for children.

The usage fees, not included in airline ticket prices, consist of the international passenger service facility charge (PSFC) and the passenger security service charge (PSSC).

The usage fees will remain the same for domestic flight passengers.

Higher energy bills as well as rising labor costs due to wage hikes and increased flights are factors behind the decision, according to Narita International Airport Corp.

The price increase is expected to push up the company’s revenue by 1.7 billion yen in the fiscal year to March 2024.

It will mark the first time the PSFC has been hiked since 1981, excluding consumption tax increases.
