Fans of the “Naruto” anime series can now run around the ninja village of Konohagakure with their favorite characters in a virtual-reality attraction at Tokyo’s Odaiba waterfront district.

The “Naruto x Boruto VR” attraction is being offered at the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza complex until May 28.

The anime is based on a manga by Masashi Kishimoto about Naruto, who attends a ninja school.

Konohagakure comes into view in the metaverse when players wear VR goggles in the attraction. They can walk through the village and jump onto a roof by moving their bodies with exclusive hand-held controllers.

Naruto also appears in “real-life” size, or about 150 centimeters tall, and gives encouragement to the player: “We can do it together.”

The character joins the player in a mission that involves battling enemy ninja and monsters using “ninjutsu” (ninja arts) and swords.

Naruto’s mentor, Kakashi Hatake, and other popular characters from the anime are also featured in the VR attraction.

It was jointly developed by Tokyo-based Five for Co., which produces VR equipment, and TV Tokyo Corp.

“We might apply (the attraction) to other intellectual properties,” said Toshiyuki Hiraoka, general manager of animation business at the broadcaster.

Naruto x Boruto VR is intended for players aged 10 or older.

Tickets cost 2,500 yen ($19) on weekdays. The price is 3,000 yen on weekends, holidays, between March 27 and April 7, and on May 1 and 2.

Tickets are available at the official website at (https://www.vr-naruto.com/).
