Leading toymaker Tomy Co. has announced it will roll out a new Tomica toy car line in collaboration with Studio Ghibli Inc. that will offer die-cast models of vehicles featured in the legendary anime studio's popular works.
Set to be released on Nov. 19, the first batch of the "Dream Tomica Ghibli ga Ippai" (Dream Tomica with a lot of Ghibli) line will include three Tomica versions of anime-related vehicles
They are the Cat Bus from "My Neighbor Totoro"; the Savoia S.21F flying boat piloted by the titular character from "Porco Rosso"; and a Sea Railway train car running on the sea from "Spirited Away."
Characterized by an uncompromising attention to detail, the Cat Bus appears as if it is racing through a forest looking for the young protagonist Mei. Its destination marker also reads "Mei."
The propeller on the engine of the flying boat can be spun, while Chihiro, the protagonist of "Spirited Away," is seen inside the train car with the monster No-Face.
Each is priced at 1,320 yen ($9.30), including tax.
