KOFU--A dark long-sleeved, high-necked shirt and bone-like fragments were found in a mountain area where a girl went missing in 2019, Yamanashi prefectural police said May 4.
The objects were discovered at the side of a mountain trail in Doshi, Yamanashi Prefecture, the same area where a pair of children’s shoes and human bones were recently found.
Misaki Ogura went missing from a nearby campsite in 2019. She was 7 at the time.
According to fliers seeking information about Misaki, the girl was wearing a black, long-sleeved, high-necked shirt when she vanished.
Police will ask Misaki’s mother, Tomoko, to identify the shirt.
“I am at a complete loss for words to be honest,” Tomoko said in a statement. “I was in a state of numbness for a while and couldn’t stop crying. But I will keep my hopes up.”
Police said they will conduct a DNA test on the fragments if they are confirmed to be human. They could not extract DNA from the bones found earlier.
