Tokyo confirmed 2,999 fresh cases of COVID-19 on May 4, down 3,053 from a week ago and the 23rd straight week-on-week decline.
Six deaths among patients in their 60s to 90s were also reported in the capital.
The daily average of new infections over the week through May 4 in Tokyo was 3,455.1, or 65.9 percent of the average for the preceding week.
Patients in their 30s represented the largest age group of the new patients, at 620, followed by 590 in their 20s, 461 in their 40s, 406 under the age of 10 and 380 aged between 10 and 19.
Additionally, 217 people aged 65 or older tested positive, metropolitan government officials said.
