Actors Hidetoshi Nishijima and Tomoya Nakamura will star in “Kamen Rider Black Sun,” a “tokusatsu” live-action special effects series streaming later this year.
Nishijima will play Kotaro Minami and his alter ego Kamen Rider Black Sun, while Nakamura will portray Nobuhiko Akizuki, aka Kamen Rider Shadow Moon.
For both actors, it will mark their first appearances in the superhero franchise.
The latest series is a reboot of “Kamen Rider Black,” which is based on Shotaro Ishinomori’s manga series and aired from 1987 to 1988.
Kazuya Shiraishi, known for films such as “The Devil's Path” and "The Blood of Wolves,” is directing the movie.
“Because it is directed by Shiraishi, I’m sure it will be a human drama with a very, very deep social message,” Nishijima was quoted as saying, adding, “We’ll make it a series that can be enjoyed by adults and inspire children to live their lives with a Kamen Rider in their hearts.”
Nakamura said he sensed it will be a series “that offers so many things, like interpersonal stories, histories and catharsis, in addition to Kamen Rider’s coolness and Black’s pain, just like director Shiraishi has always portrayed.”
