NAGOYA--The Matsuzakaya Nagoya department store is offering domestic tour packages that let travelers avoid crowded airliners and trains during these pandemic times, but the cost of such safety and convenience is not exactly cheap.

The three-day, two-night travel package, targeting wealthy shoppers, starts at about 2 million yen ($18,200) per person for a group of four.

Participants will board a private jet at the Aichi Prefecture-run Nagoya Airport to travel to their destination. From the airport at their destination, they can arrange for a helicopter to take them to their hotel.

Suggested destinations include Niseko in Hokkaido and the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki Prefecture. The travelers can choose dates and other details to customize their itineraries.

Matsuzakaya Nagoya, which is run by department store chain operator Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co., has previously offered high-end travel packages on its own because it has a larger number of wealthy customers than other group outlets or areas.

But this is the first time the group has offered such a luxurious travel plan.

“After the coronavirus pandemic is contained, we want to consider overseas travel plans with a private jet,” a publicist at the company said.
