EBINA, Kanagawa Prefecture--Train buffs take note: A railway museum devoted to much-loved Romancecar trains will open here on April 19, Odakyu Railway Co. announced.
The Romancecar Museum is adjacent to Ebina Station on the Odakyu Line.
Designed to be a railway museum that both children and adults can enjoy, the two-story, steel-frame facility's floor space of about 4,400 square meters will feature 11 trains in six models.
They include successive Romancecar limited express trains used to connect Tokyo's Shinjuku district and Hakone-Yumoto, a gateway to the hugely popular Hakone hot spring resort in Kanagawa Prefecture, and a MoHa 1 commuter train introduced when the Odakyu Line opened for service in 1927.
The Romancecar Museum Clubhouse cafe attached to the museum will offer menus prepared with local ingredients from areas along the line and themed on the Romancecar, the company said.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, reservations must be made in advance for the time being.
Admission is 900 yen ($8.25) for adults (junior high school students or older), 400 yen for elementary school students and 100 yen for toddlers aged 3 or older.
