Kameya Yoshinaga Co., founded in 1803, has come up with a modern twist for its customers to enjoy "yokan" (sweet jellied bean paste) in an easy way.

It became the traditional confectionery's popular dish in 2018.

"Slice Yokan" is inspired by ogura toast, a famous dish served in Nagoya consisting of a toasted slice of bread topped with "ogura an" (sweet red bean paste) spread with butter. Instead, the spread is replaced with a thin slice of yokan, just like a toast with a slice of cheese on top.

It also comes with a piece of butter in the top center.

Since January, the confectionery has also been serving "Slice Yokan Cacao," using yokan cooked with sour-tasting cacao beans from India.
