URAYASU, Chiba Prefecture--To more evenly distribute visitors to Tokyo Disney Resort, ticket prices will be boosted for weekends and holidays from March 20.
The variable pricing system will keep ticket prices for weekdays unchanged, operator Oriental Land Co. said.
Currently, a one-day passport for Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea costs 8,200 yen ($79.60), including tax, for adults. The price will increase to 8,700 yen on weekends and holidays, as well as during vacation periods such as the spring vacation and the Golden Week holiday period from late April to early May.
Junior and high school students will have to pay 7,300 yen for the single-day entry pass, up 400 yen. The price for young children will rise to 5,200 yen from the current 4,900 yen.
The two theme parks reopened on July 1 after a temporary closure due to the new coronavirus pandemic. But the operator’s earnings have deteriorated as it limits the number of visitors to prevent infections.
Oriental Land said it had been considering the variable pricing format even before the pandemic.
