A junior high school teacher in Hokkaido was arrested on suspicion of taking lewd photos of a teenage girl, the fifth person connected to a voyeuristic group of educators, investigative sources said Sept. 18.
The suspect in his 40s posted the sexually explicit pictures in a chat room of the group that had nearly 10 members, all believed to be teachers, the sources said.
In the continuing investigation, Aichi prefectural police earlier arrested: the group’s founder, a 42-year-old male teacher at a Nagoya municipal elementary school; another municipal elementary school teacher in the Aichi prefectural capital; a municipal elementary school teacher in Yokohama; and a teacher at a junior high school in the town of Hayama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Police said videos and images uncovered in the group’s chat include girls changing their clothes and up-skirt photos.
Some of the girls in the photos were under 13 years old, sources said.
Group members used a highly confidential messaging app for their activities.
Aichi prefectural police have set up an investigation headquarters and are working to identify other members of the group.
