To manage crowds in the final weeks of the Osaka Expo, all visitors will have to reserve a specific entry date and time when purchasing tickets starting from Aug. 18, organizers announced.
Currently, visitors must reserve a date and time to enter the expo site, but this can be done separately after purchasing a ticket.
However, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition is changing the rule amid concerns that surging demand toward the end of the six-month run might prevent some ticket holders from securing their preferred entry slots.
Under the new policy, ticket purchases and entry reservations will be linked, ensuring that visitors can secure their entry plan at the time of purchase.
The expo, which began in April, will conclude on Oct. 13.
Additionally, sales of the full-period season pass and the limited-time summer pass will end on Aug. 17.
These multiple-entry passes do not allow advance reservations at the time of purchase.
The summer pass, valid from July 19 to Aug. 31, is also nearing the end of its usage period.
