The Women's Pavilion was unveiled for a media tour on March 13, a month ahead of the opening of Osaka Kansai Expo 2025.

Activities promoted in the space will follow the concept "When women thrive, humanity thrives."

Designed by architect Yuko Nagayama, the two-story pavilion's exterior is reminiscent of the traditional "asanoha" hemp leaf pattern. It reuses materials from the Japan Pavilion at the Dubai Expo held in 2021 that Nagayama was also involved in.

“Japan has yet to fully utilize the potential of women. I hope that (the pavilion) will be a place where everyone in Japan and abroad can discuss and create the future," she said.

Cartier and the Cabinet Office are among the entities jointly exhibiting at the pavilion.

On the first floor, visitors can watch short films about the lives of three women, including writer Banana Yoshimoto.

On the second floor, there will be a “WA Space” for people to converse.

More than 150 events will be held during the six-month expo to discuss social issues.
