HITACHINAKA, Ibaraki Prefecture--Police here arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of injuring his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter by throwing her into a washing machine while he was drunk.
Hideaki Masui is accused of putting the girl in the washing machine and turning it on at a home in Tokai in the prefecture at around 8:40 a.m. on May 19.
He lives with the girl and her mother at the house.
The suspect was arrested on the spot by officers who responded to a call by the girl’s mother. He has denied the allegation, police said.
Masui, who claims to be a construction worker, was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
