A man arrested a month ago on suspicion of kidnapping a junior high school girl was rearrested in a separate case of luring a minor to live in a rental property he managed, police said.

The suspect, Hiroaki Sakaue, 37, admitted to the allegation.

The latest case involves a girl from Hyogo Prefecture who lived in the property for about two months.

The previous case involved a junior high school girl from Saitama Prefecture.

Saitama prefectural police announced the arrest on Nov. 27.

According to police, Sakaue runs a real estate business and lives in Honjo, Saitama Prefecture.

Police said he responded to comments on Twitter posted by the Hyogo girl who said she wanted to leave home.

“Why don’t you come to Saitama?" he responded. "If you study, I will support your life," meaning he was offering to provide food and accommodation.

Even though the girl apparently was not held against her will, police say his actions amounted to kidnapping.

He is accused of holding the girl between Aug. 28 and Oct. 29.

“I simply wanted to hire her for my company in the future,” Sakaue told police.

Police mounted an investigation after the father of the junior high school girl in Saitama Prefecture reported to the Urawa Police Station that his daughter had not returned home.

Police investigated the rental property on Oct. 29 after viewing security camera footage.

During the course of the investigation, police found the girl from Saitama Prefecture as well as the girl from Hyogo Prefecture and placed them under protection.

Sakaue was arrested the following day.

Police noted that the girls were free to go outside when they stayed in the rental property. Food was also provided.
