A Japan Airlines (JAL) plane caught fire and burst into flames at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on Jan. 2.
Firefighting efforts are under way.
Flight JAL 516 departed from Shin-Chitose Airport, carrying 359 passengers and eight infants, and 12 crew members. All 379 passengers and crew members escaped, JAL said.
The incident occurred around 5:50 p.m. on Runway C at the airport in Ota Ward.
The runway has been closed.
The Tokyo Fire Department said it had received information the aircraft came into contact with a Japan Coast Guard aircraft.
