Larger monitors and private rooms are some of the features on Japan Airlines Co.s new passenger aircraft that will be used for international flights by the year’s end.

JAL revealed the interior design and services of the A350-1000 of the Europe-based Airbus on Oct. 2.

The jumbo model will be the first JAL-operated plane with door-fitted personal rooms for extra privacy for its 60 first-class and business-class seats.

With 239 seats, the A350-1000 will boast new seating designs in all four categories, including economy class and premium economy class.

The seats’ monitors will not only be larger, but they will also be compatible with wireless headphones and earphones.

The A350-1000 will serve as JALs first new flagship model in 20 years for international flights to major cities in Europe and the United States.

It will connect Haneda Airport in Tokyo and New York City as the first step toward replacing the conventional B777-300ER from Boeing of the United States in five years’ time under the plan.

The aircraft will also be up to 25 percent more fuel efficient than the previous model.

Although the A350-1000 was initially slated to begin operating in late November, its introduction was pushed back to around the end of this year due to delays in parts being delivered because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
