KITA-KYUSHU--The retro-themed area of Moji Port here in Fukuoka Prefecture is laying out the welcome mat to visitors with glorious nighttime illuminations until March 17.
The annual event, now in its 29th year, kicks off from 5:30 p.m. with light out at midnight.
As part of the program that started in 1994 to restore the port as a tourist destination, the nostalgic Shiokaze-go sightseeing train service is now operating at nighttime on weekends until the end of March.
Another attraction, the Kanmon Straits Candle Night that will be held Nov. 18-19, involves about 30,000 candles lined up in the Moji Port area and Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi prefucture.
