TATEYAMA, Toyama Prefecture—Autumn leaves are at their best around Tateyama in the Northern Alps, where their brilliant colors cascade down the slopes of the mountains.
Passengers on the Tateyama Kogen Bus can enjoy views of the fall foliage as they travel along the winding road around the Midagahara highland, 1,930 meters above sea level.
According to Tateyama Kurobe Kanko Co. based in Toyama city, the operator of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, the autumn leaves start changing colors at the mountain’s peak early in the season and gradually change color all the way down the mountain.
Passengers can see spectacular autumn leaves along the route until early November.
