Police arrested two members of a yakuza gang after they entered a stadium to watch a professional baseball game in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, according to investigative sources.
The Hanshin Koshien Stadium website clearly states that “people who belong to organized crime syndicates or similar anti-social groups and those with close relations with these groups” are “refused entry” to the stadium.
The two gangsters who reside in Osaka Prefecture visited the stadium on the afternoon of April 8 to watch the game between the Hanshin Tigers and the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, according to the sources.
Hyogo prefectural police determined the two men entered the venue against the stadium operator’s will and arrested the pair on suspicion of trespassing.
In December 2003, a council for the exclusion of organized crime groups organized by Nippon Professional Baseball and others adopted a declaration to exclude organized crime groups and their members from baseball-related events.
The declaration confirms that a host organization cannot allow gang members to enter their baseball stadiums.
