Aimed at wealthy foreign tourists, international luxury hotels are opening in the heart of Tokyo in succession over the next five years to meet the increasing demand.

The Italian luxury brand Bulgari opened its first hotel in front of JR Tokyo Station on April 4.

The Bulgari Hotel Tokyo occupies floors 40 through 45 in Tokyo Midtown Yaesu in the capital’s Chuo Ward, which was developed by Mitsui Fudosan Co.

The hotel boasts a superb location, grand views and exquisite interior designs.

It offers 98 guest rooms, with rates starting at about 250,000 yen ($1,900) per night.

The most spacious suite is 400 square meters.

Two skyscrapers developed by Mori Building Co. and scheduled to open in the fall in Minato Ward will each house a hotel.

Hotel Toranomon Hills, a Hyatt-affiliated hotel, will open in Toranomon Hills Station Tower.

An Aman hotel called Janu Tokyo will operate in Azabudai Hills.

Fairmont Tokyo, Accor’s first hotel in Japan, will open in fiscal 2025 in a building being developed by Nomura Real Estate Development Co. and East Japan Railway Co., which is currently under construction in the Shibaura district of Minato Ward.

And in 2028, Dorchester Collection, a super high-end hotel chain, will also open its first hotel in the country in the 390-meter Torch Tower skyscraper developed by Mitsubishi Estate Co. in Chiyoda Ward.
