NARA--Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was in a state of cardiac arrest after being shot here on July 8, police sources said.
Police have apprehended a 41-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
Two shots were heard while Abe was giving a speech in front of Yamato-Saidaiji Station of the Kintetsu Line at around 11:30 a.m.
He collapsed and was rushed to a hospital.
