Fresh cases of COVID-19 in Tokyo on June 5 fell for the 23rd consecutive day on a week on week basis, metropolitan government officials said.
The latest tally, 1,584, was down by 610 from the previous Sunday.
Authorities also reported two related deaths, a woman in her 80s and another in her 90s.
Twentysomethings accounted for the largest demographic of new cases at 292. They were followed by 282 patients in their 30s and 268 children aged 9 or younger.
Patients aged 65 or older totaled 134.
The hospital bed occupancy rate was 17.7 percent.
