FUJI-YOSHIDA, Yamanashi Prefecture--Railway operator Fuji Kyuko Co. will resume Fujisan Express services on March 12 after a two-year hiatus and a schedule revision.
Illustrated with many Mount Fuji-inspired characters, the sightseeing express train connects Otsuki and Kawaguchiko stations.
But operations were halted in April 2020 as passenger numbers plunged.
Fuji Kyuko, which operates Fujikyu Railway, said it will offer two daily round trips of the sightseeing train on weekends and holidays, increasing the total number of round trips of express trains on those days from six to eight.
The first carriage will be an observation car with all seats reserved, while the second and third carriages are nonreserved.
In response to requests from users, the last train bound for Kawaguchiko Station will leave Otsuki Station at 11:10 p.m. instead of the current 10:52 p.m. The later departure will enable passengers on an express train departing Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station at 10 p.m. to transfer to the last train.
Similarly, the last train bound for Otsuki Station will leave Kawaguchiko Station at 10:10 p.m. instead of the current 9:52 p.m.
