Tokyo reported six new COVID-19 cases on Nov. 22, a record low for this year, while the weekly average continued to decline, metropolitan officials said.
The latest count is one fewer than the previous record set a week earlier on Nov. 15.
The average number of daily new infections over the week through Nov. 22 stood at 17.1, or 74.3 percent of the figure for the preceding week.
The number of severely ill patients requiring ventilators and ECMO heart-lung bypass machines was eight, down by one from Nov. 21.
