Tokyo reported 20 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Nov. 21, two fewer than the previous Sunday.

The seven-day average of new infections through Nov. 21 came to 17.3, representing 70.3 percent of the figure for the preceding week, metropolitan officials said.

The number of serious cases as defined by the Tokyo metropolitan government, meaning the patients are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung bypass machines, was nine, unchanged from the day before.

No new deaths were reported.
